There are more than 130 wineries in Virginia producing distinct wines reflecting the terroir and the craftsmanship of the winemakers. Over the past few years the wineries have been continually improving their wine making methods with influences from around the world along with local expertise. Winemakers from France, Italy, South Africa, California and other wine producing regions have made Virginia their home.
Cabernet Franc, Viognier, and Petit Verdot are doing very well in Virginia and are quickly becoming the signature varietals for the region.
